About Me
I am considered to be "newer" teacher for middle school students since I started in DeKalb County August 15th, 2018. I am the STEAM teacher at Chamblee Middle School as well as co-coordinator in the school-wide STEAM program. My journey as teacher did not start with middle school in mind but at the college level as an instructor and teaching assist in molecular biology while working on a doctoral (PhD) degree in Biology at Georgia State University. I was very happy about being a scientist, immunologist, and a biochemist and getting to grow my mind and wealth of bench laboratory skills. I made a choice to pursue teaching as a career when I became a mom. I love science and teaching and I will never forget the life lessons and hardships of being a woman in male dominated STEM fields. My life and career goals have pushed me towards teaching the next generation of scientist with the hopes of gender and racial stereotypes disappearing for them. I will say that maybe in the future about returning to the bench as intern to show how off my skills and knowledge about lipid rafts, animal husbandry, breast cancer, colon cancer, and exosome signalling with nurturing environment.
I am certified teacher for middle school sciences and high school biology. I have passed both GACE at the professional level:
GACE Biology Content Exam Scores:
Test I : 285 Test II: 269
GACE Middle School Science Content Exam Score : 282
To sum me up as teacher, mom, and lifetime learner!
